Heights High School Redcoats celebrate 100 years with centennial homecoming performance
The Redcoats dance team traces its history to 1926, when it began as a bugle and drum corps at the school then known as John H. Reagan High School. About 35 alumni will join current team members for a special homecoming performance.

The Heights High School Redcoats are celebrating 100 years of tradition this week, with alumni and current team members set to perform together during the school’s homecoming game Friday.
The centennial celebration honors a history that began in 1926, when the team was established as a bugle and drum corps at what was then known as John H. Reagan High School.
Over the decades, the group evolved from its musical roots into the dance team known today as the Redcoats.

For Friday’s homecoming performance, approximately 35 alumni spanning nearly 44 years are expected to join current team members on the field.
The team has performed at several major events in recent years, including the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade in 2022, Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, in 2023 and Magic Kingdom in 2025. In 2024, the Redcoats also earned recognition at Ascension Dance Nationals, where officers were named grand champions.
The team performed before a Houston Rockets game against the New York Knicks in 2025.
The school was originally named John H. Reagan High School when the Redcoats tradition began. In 2016, the campus officially became Heights High School, honoring the surrounding neighborhood while retaining the Redcoats name and its history.
The centennial homecoming performance is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9.
