No arrest after 87-year-old man fatally shot at Woodland Heights home
One person was detained and released, according to Houston Police Department
Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting at a home in the Woodland Heights area Tuesday morning.
Officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Omar Street shortly after 11 a.m., according to HPD.

The man who was killed was 87 years old, police said Wednesday, after initially saying at the scene he was between 50 and 60 years old.
Police detained a man at the scene but he was released pending investigation, detectives said in an update on Wednesday. The shooting happened after an altercation between the two men.
A 911 call from inside the house initially came in as a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. However, after officers arrived at the scene, they requested homicide detectives to respond, according to HPD.
Police would not share the relationship between those involved and added that several people were in the home when the shooting happened.
Detectives at the scene Tuesday said t’s still unclear if it’s a criminal homicide.
The Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, which patrols the area, said law enforcement has responded to the home three times this year but none of the calls appeared to involve violence or result in an arrest.
